Sports Stretching

Stretching plays an essential role in rehabilitating chronic pain conditions or sports injuries. Combining advanced stretching with clinical massage can provide exceptional results.

A range of advanced sports stretching techniques may be used in any one session.

Passive Stretching:

During this technique, the therapist takes the client into a comfortable stretch and slowly increases it as the client exhales.

PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation):

This method of stretching may also be known as MET (Muscle Energy Technique).

This stretching technique aims to strengthen as well as stretch the muscle. This is achieved by the therapist stretching against the client’s mild resistance as they exhale.

AIS (Active Isolated Stretching):

This stretch is achieved by the client working an opposite muscle alongside the therapist, who increases the stretch at the end of each movement (for example, quads are worked to stretch the hamstrings). This is a great cardio work out and the perfect way to warm up before exercising.

Encouraging you to do regular stretching exercises between sessions is our way of helping you to help yourself. We can give you stretching suggestions that are easily achievable at home or in the workplace with minimal or no equipment.
